A/N: Apologies in advance for the self insert, Owl torture, cliche jokes and jokes about eating Nightopians. Hopefully you will enjoy anyhow!
Blank
The Magic Pickle Fairy
“Do all stories have to start out blank?” Anna asked, frustrated from her Writer’s Block. She wrote stories quite often, but once her school assigned her to write a story for English class, she just drew a blank.
“Gah, it is one measly short story, and I have to write it at the worst time possible.” She looked at her empty word document, frustrated.
Writing was her main passion. She wanted to create worlds, and then use them. She also loved to use other people’s worlds. If there was a video game she was enthralled with, she would use its world in a snap.
That day, she just banged on the keyboard of her laptop with her head, “ysdjhndfiofiq.”

In the Dream World, there was a great argument going on, between the two first rank Nightmarens at the Dream Gate, “you know what Reala?” Asked the purple nightmare named NiGHTS, “You don’t even know what it’s like to be a ‘traitor!’ Your job is easy; all you have to do is follow orders mindlessly like a puppet!”
“What?” asked a black and red nightmare who wore a mask, he was known as Reala “it wasn’t so easy since you parted; you are the one who made things harder for all of us!”
“You don’t even have a taste of my experience,” NiGHTS cried out.
“Well then, how about we get into each other shoes?” Reala questioned.
That was when NiGHTS had a crazy idea, “how about that we paint each
other? I can borrow your persona for a night, how about it?”
“For you to understand, my sibling,” Reala smirked, “I will agree.”

Anna walked into her class where she sat down in the front desk; her teacher walked up to her and asked, “May I have your story?”
Anna looked down in shame, “no, I don’t have my story.”
“Failure,” the teacher yelled out at Anna, “you are a complete failure; you will never progress in high school or in the real world.”
All of the other students laughed at her. They soon formed into shadows.
Anna fell down from her seat from complete surprised; she got up to run as fast as she could. She ran until she saw a light. The light soon formed to be a gate. When she saw the gate, she stopped running. “Wow,” she looked at it, “Am I dreaming or something?”
That was when an owl came by, “why yes you are, when you dream you come to this world called the Night Dimension.”
“Hmm,” Anna nodded, “the Night Dimension.”
“Hmmph,” a purple nightmare floated above her, “do you really want to talk to that old hag?”
“What? I find the concept quite interesting,” she looked over at the strange creature, “do you live in this, ‘Night Dimension?’”
“Well of course,” he rolled his eyes, “where else would you see happy go lucky flying jesters?”
That was what made Anna slightly confused, “you don’t seem happy go lucky to me.”
Owl agreed, “why, you seem much different NiGHTS, it’s in your personality.”
That was when he just gave up, “you know what old man, I’m not NiGHTS.”
“W-wha?” Owl asked with dread in his eyes, “you’re not?”
“No, I’m Reala,” that was when he began scratching at himself, as the purple pieces of chips came off of him. The sight was just revolting to Anna. The owl just fainted. When it was finally over, he was revealed as a black and red nightmare. “Well?”
“I am very confused,” Anna admitted, “why were you wearing purple paint?”
A sigh just came out of Reala’s mouth, this dreamer was obviously new, so she wouldn’t know NiGHTS, so he tried to explain as well as he could, “usually, this other Nightmaren named NiGHTS greets dreamers like you at the Dream Gate here. Tonight, we decided to switch jobs.”
“So,” Anna questioned, “NiGHTS looks like you, but purple? What would your job be?”
“Um…” Reala was hesitant, “my job is to bring nightmares upon others.”
“Sounds like a fun job,” Anna nodded, “like the nightmare I had earlier?”
That was when Reala decided to change the subject, this girl was way too curious, “let’s dualize already!”
Anna was pretty confused at the moment, as she was before “what would dualizing mean?”
“When we fuse together and get the feeling of flight,” Reala explained.
“Sure,” Anna shrugged, “and how do we do that?”
“Well, we touch hands,” Reala took out his hand, “then we dualize.”
Anna walked over to Reala with his hand out. Her hand met Reala then they fused together. “Wow,” she whispered, “I never flew like that before.”
After much teaching from Reala, mostly contained of him yelling at Anna, they flew to the ground, then they undualized. Right when that had happened a door appeared. “Well, looks like you still have some Ideya in you.”
“And what would that be?” Anna asked in a proud matter.
Reala just pushed the door open, “you ask way too many questions; don’t you know that most dreamers would fall asleep at this stuff?”
That was when Anna got a little cocky, “and I thought this wasn’t your job. How would you know that most dreamers wouldn’t be interested?”
“Never mind, just open the door,” Reala pointed to the door, “It goes to Nightopia!”
“And would that be a utopian or dystopian society?” Anna asked in full curiosity, “If a place ends with ‘topia’ it has to be either.”
“And you read too many books,” Reala pushed Anna to the door, “now how about you open the door now? Wouldn’t that be fun?”
“But I know nothing about this, ‘Nightopia’” Anna said.
That was when Reala’s voice lowered, “you better open this door, or else.”
Anna’s eyes began to grow wide, “okay,” she slightly squeaked. Her hands rushed to the doorknob, and the door flung open where she saw a bright light, and butterflies coming out of it. She stepped into the door where she found a flower field with a rainbow of flowers. “Okay, so that would be a utopian society?” That was when some small creature caught her eye. “Aw, they’re so cute! What are they called?”
“Lunches,” Reala grimly spoke.
As gullible as Anna was, she believed him, “so, you eat them huh?”
That was when they both heard some evil laughing. Soon the laughing turned to coughing, “oh gosh, Reala, how do you laugh for so long?” It was a purple nightmare who wore a gold colored mask. Anna guessed that he was NiGHTS.
“Practice my sibling,” said Reala, “practice.”
“Oh, Reala, your paint came off,” NiGHTS observed.
“I would say the same for you,” Reala crossed his arms, “the old bird was suspicious, so I told him right away.”
“Same with Wizeman,” said NiGHTS, “I told him. He said that it might be good for me if I did this, but told you not to get any ideas.”
“I won’t, I can’t believe you have to put up with these annoying visitors,”
Reala pointed to Anna who was holding a Nightopian.
“Well, I was only curious,” Anna rebutted, “so what if I wanted to know what a Lunch is?”
“The meal at the middle of the day for Visitors?” NiGHTS asked.
“Well, yeah,” Anna agreed, “but they are also these cute little creatures!”
NiGHTS just gave Reala a glance, “Lunch?”
“Yeah, Lunch, what else would you think they’re called?” Reala crossed his arms, “Nightopians?”
“Are you hiding something from me?” Anna looked at Reala suspiciously.
“Yeah,” NiGHTS said to Anna as she looked at Reala, “he’s hiding the real name of these creatures.”
Anna gasped, “oh my.”
That was when NiGHTS snapped his fingers. Or at least tired to, “aw great, these prisons only work when I snap my fingers, and I can’t snap my fingers.”
Anna looked over at NiGHTS, “Maybe if you took off the gloves?”
“Why are you helping NiGHTS?” asked Reala, “he is trying to capture me!”
“Why?” Anna asked, “You don’t really need to be captured. What is
NiGHTS going to do? Get you to join his nightmare army?”
“For one thing,” Reala’s face went close to Anna’s, “it isn’t NiGHTS’ army, or mine, it’s Wizeman’s. The other, you are not one to question our authority.”
“Aw, Reala,” NiGHTS said, “she does have a point.”
“She’s a stupid dreamer,” Reala pointed to Anna “since when were they logical?”
“You don’t make a very good traitorous Nightmaren,” NiGHTS observed.
“Well, you aren’t very good at capturing me!” Reala yelled back.
The dreamer had a suggestion, “so how about you switch back?”
Both of the nightmarens looked at Anna, “you know, that’s a good idea,” they both said.
Reala grabbed his mask back from NiGHTS, and then he snapped his fingers. Soon enough, NiGHTS was captured, “looks like the whole plan worked out after all.” Reala began to laugh as he left.
“Visitor, you must have some Ideya if this Nightopia was created,” NiGHTS called out, “you can save me with the Ideya!”
A green light came out of Anna’s hands, “this Ideya?”
“Aw, shoot, that’s not the right Ideya,” NiGHTS sighed in disappointment,
“guess we’re doomed.”
“We?” Anna asked, “You’re the one that’s captured, not me!” Anna soon disappeared.
“Wait!” NiGHTS cried, “Nightopia depends on me!”

Right when Anna woke up, she whispered, “I have an idea.” She opened her laptop then began to type. “Making a short story about the world I dreamed up is a great idea! It’s always good to write about your dreams.”
