One mystery that comes into most NiGHTS fans are about the heads of the First Rank Nightmarens. Nobody acctually knows what are under them, or if there are acctually anything under them.

There are many theories out there on what those jester like tassels are. What are your theories? Anything under them, or just their brains?

Nightmaren aren't human or even physical beings, so I think that what you see is what you get.
Going by what you can see in NiGHTS' cuffs and collar, Nightmaren seem to be hollow, so I think that there's nothing underneath.
Also, in NiGHTS into Dreams, the horns sort of wobble as NiGHTS flies in the intro.
If they were proper horns, they would not move, and if they were fabric, they would most likely flow a lot more.
So that's my opinion, what's yours?

I personally think that those things on the First Rank Nightmarens' heads are not hats, that it's the Nightmaren equivalent to hair.

Yet I like seeing NiGHTS and Reala with hair in fan art, I think it looks pretty cool. If they were hats, I would imagine them as swim caps, since swim caps can cover hair quite nicely.

You could be right on that in a sense of an idea that already existed in a rare, hentai NiGHTS comic. I didn't realize this until today but look closely at the hat on the cover. Her hair is merged with her hat! It's pretty creative I believe. <3 ^_^

Doujinshi are hardly official since anyone can make one, but is that a Merged NiGHTS, or NiGHTS by himself?

I can't really say for NiGHTS by himself. In that comic, they make NiGHTS look like an enigma because they mostly show him as a silhoutte. But you gotta admit it was really close to Pickle Fairy's idea. ^_^'

The short answer is a Merged NiGHTS I believe. :\

I always thought NiGHTS, Reala, and other Nightmarens wore circius-like hats. I always imagined NiGHTS having short black hair, somewhat like Harry Potter.

Actually, that's what I thought myself, only his hair is a mystery. (Such mysteriousness! )

I think that they are hats, and personally, I think that NiGHTS has blonde hair under hers, Reala has black and red hair under his, and Jackle has orange and green under his. But that might just be a theory, since I've seen other fans use it in drawings.

I just think that in addition to the reasons I stated above, if they were hats, then at some point in the 11 years worth of games and cameos, we would have seen some evidence of it from Sega.
Since it's never once happened or even been hinted at, I'm going to stick to my theory that what you see is what you get.

I guess the whole hair is just a part of my imagination, I usually just like to pretend NiGHS has hair whenever I draw pictures of her.

Actually... I think they are hats and they would have Long Human Hair.....although again its fan Art i see...very good ones too... I heard SEGA and Sonic Team is gonna use one of a Fan's Evil NiGHTS in a game..... this is what i heard from a friend....(She knows who she is) uhh the creator calls it UV NiGHTS or Ultra Violet NiGHTS.....nice name....i also heard that they would change the name to something like Zero NiGHTS or something like that...these are just rumors so i dont know if its real or not...more information about it when i get more news on it....

Not quite, Shadic. I can clear this up because of my time on the NiGHTSintoDreams.com forum both as a member and as a moderator.

When they were designing the new NiGHTS for Journey of Dreams, they went through several designs, and one looked similar to Lynne Triplett's fan version of NiGHTS, who we affectionately call UV, or UV NiGHTS.

But No fan creation is ever going to appear in the games, even though fans and friends of Lynne and UV would get a kick out of seeing that

And while Lynne does love to draw UV with long flowing platinum blond hair, it's still strictly a fan creation for now.

hm, True....and yeah it would be pretty awesome to see a Guest Maren appear in a Game but sadly...one can only dream.....XD...aaaaaanyway....many people like to think Nightmarens arn't bald without a hat because i personaly dont think NiGHTS or Reala look good bald...heh no offense

They're not bald, they have those horned "caps"
I still say that what you see is what you get, those "hats" are their heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! XD
