Making it to Midnight

New Year's material to go here

Making it to Midnight

Postby SiLK on Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:56 pm

Do you stay up until midnight?

I try to, but it does get hard sometimes. I usually watch the ball drop with my grandmother (everyone else goes to bed)

So how do you pass the time if you wait it out?

I am alsways up till 2. I can't seem to go to bed early anymore for some reason. Last year I missed 12:00. I was playing games and it was 1:30 when I realised I missed 12. Didn't bother me much though.

Playing video games is always a great way to stay up. Chatting with friends on the net helps too. Oh and lets not forget watching TV or putting water on your face. Usually I am talking with people though. Last year was an exception since I was by myself.

I go to other people's houses, so it's kinda easy to stay up. Lot's of drinks (No beer or anything) and talking has alot to do with it. IT also helps that I have insomnia too! XD

Wow you gave me ideas now SiLK. I will p;lay that now come this New Years. That and Civilization III.

Great now I want to play Age of Mythology right now! Its buried around here somewhere........*Goes digging through video games and manga.* Oh look, I found 4 issues of Shonene Jump I have yet to read... *continues digging*

Oh yeah, I will be drawing too. I want to draw my maren before this year ends. That with music can keep you awake pretty well.

I don't like coffee though. So all I can do is put water on my face. But listening to techno or rock music while you draw helps. Also, KEEP BRIGHT LIGHTS ON! I fell asleep in a drawing class once because the teacher had a session with dim lights. I got charcol all over my face.

Just about everyone who is a NiGHTS fan has a maren. Not all of them have had a chance to draw them though. I have been putting it off for a while now. That and I keep thinking of new ideas for her so that she will look a bit different. She has a talking hat now! 8D

Slightly off topic:

Falling asleep with charcoal? Oh no..! That's no good.
Bright lights are helpful for drawing, 1) they keep you awake, 2) you get a better perspective of what you're drawing and it reduces the shadows from your hands. Don't ask.. it's one of my pet peeves not being able to clearly see what it is I'm drawing unless I'm doing it intentionally..

As for the second part of this off topic bit, I think I'm going to go create a new topic in the NiGHTS sub-forum.

Back on topic:

I have no problem staying up until midnight because that's just me. I usually stay up until midnight every day of the week.

For New Year's, it helps to be with people, which most of the time I've got friends to keep me entertained. Other times, if I'm stuck at home -- drawing or playing video games usually helps pass the time.

To stay up til midnight I'm usually text messaging my friends, until the services get jammed with identical "HAPPY NEW YEAR" messages from everyone ELSE in the country, lol.

Also, I draw, read, write. Play games and get dragged downstairs to 'stop being antisocial and watch the parties on TV'. During which I draw some more lol.

Sometimes the family plays Cluedo. Since it's the only board game I will play XD

Heh, I used to wait until the countdown and try to keep up with it in a chatroom or IM.
It's thoroughly impossible, though.

At least it wasn't like the assinment "Draw your bedroom at night, with the lights off, and the door closed." XD Maybe I should not have closed the blinds to the one window in the whole room....

Another way to stay up is to play Harvest Moon. You would think this would make you sleepy but it doesn't. You don't want to stop...ever!

Video game binges are fun for New Years. It's been ages since I've done it, but I used to play a sequence of games. When I was a kid, I'd play through as much of the Megaman series as I could (because I couldn't beat many of them without cheats).

I'm thinking this year, depending on who is around and when I have to work, to have a Sonic binge starting with the original game for the Genesis, moving on to 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Sonic 3D Blast, and finishing up with Sonic Adventure (because those are all the games that I have, excluding the Game Gear ones). It'd be one of those things that would be an all day, all night event.. but it could be fun.

Oh, I forgot about my MST3K marathon!
I have a ton of videos that I play all night long until it's time for the countdown

Ialways go to huge parties and play Wii and Guitar Hero with my friends.
