Music - thoughts and suggestions

Please note: this thread is NOT to encourage illegally obtaining music.
That would be theft, and we do not promote thieves here.

Anyway. Not trying to scare you all.. in fact, I'm encouraging you to share what music you like to listen to, what it does for you - and share your recommendations.

So, for the first time in a very long time, I went out and bought a CD with only one track I barely knew. It's a big risk sometimes, since it's happened to me before where the rest of the CD isn't so great. I went out and got Coldplay's new album, "Viva la Vida."
It's really good. I'm not too familiar with their older songs, but it's been very awesome for inspiration lately. The song "Viva la Vida" reminded me very closely of a story that I'd been writing a long time ago.. and as I got into listening to the rest of the album, it made me throw down my bristol pad of paper.. and, well.. the rest is becoming history.

I've been a huge fan of Joe Satriani for a long time, even though I didn't even really know it at the time. We had the G3 concert CD, and when "Flying in a Blue Dream" came on, I was usually playing Mario64 and would run to any stage where I knew the flying cap was and just fly for the whole song. Kinda goofy, yeah.. but I really recommend anything by him.
It's mostly instrumental guitar rock. Good stuff. I can definitely point you in some good directions if you're interested.

Seeing as how i don't usually buy cds, it is hard for me to recommend any music to go out and buy, but I can make a recommendation on at least listening to The Advantage if you are into video game music, they are a cover band that does alot of old nes games in different styles of music, I have Elf Titled and my friend gave me the other cd, there is also some good remixes that I shall have to link you that are really good.

I really love musical theater. The last musical that I saw was named [Title of Show]. It's a musical about two men writing a musical. I am not sure if it has a CD, I didn't check the gift stand, but I'm sure it does since it made it on Broadway. It would be difficult to sell tickets if there is no CD since some people like to hear the music first.

Other musicals that I like are: The Phantom of the Opera, Spamalot, Annie get your Gun, anything by Disney, Les Miserabe (If that's spelled right, I can't speak French), Hairspray and The Producers.

Yeah, I like the musicals that are based on something like books and movies...yet then again it is difficult to make a musical that is completely original. [Title of Show] made a good point about that in one of their songs.
The Gothic Lolita style looks great on Nightmaren!

Music, huh? Heh,heh, heh. *Rubs hands together* You guys like dreams, I'll give you some. X3 Have you ever heard of, oh let me say... Mind.in.a.Box? I must say, if you love electronic music, and music that doesn't talk about love 24/7, then give it a shot. ;D It is not hardcore, goth, or anything like that. (Though I must admit, he can sound a little negative at times. :? So bear with me here.) Only two guys are in the group: one for music, the other for lyrics. I believe they made four albums, Cross-roads is the most recent. Most of his songs don't sound like each other, so sometimes you may not recognize them at times.
I know some of you have heard of Royksopp, am I not right? They are awesome too, something for everyone. (besides hardcore XD Mostly smooth) You can hardly recognize some of their songs because they use different people each time. You can find some of their songs on You-Tube.
One artist that's new to me is called Celsium 137. They're good at electronic music too. I only heard a few songs from them, but I really like them so far. Their songs remind me of a story that I made up and most likely won't write. (Sorry guys, but it's a really long story. -_-' ) One example is Flight. Unfortunately, you won't be able to find them on You-Tube. :(
OH! I almost forgot.! Melotron *Drools* These guys are hands-down awesome! They are a German band and that's why they're so hard to find in music stores. BUT, just go to Melotron.com and try out the free mini-segments and see what you think. Three really good ones are Halt mich fest, Der anfang, and Broken. There are more awesome songs that are as good as those three that they made.
Give 'em a shot. ;)
