Tyler's Dream

Part I: Beginning

Chapter 1: Tyler

Hello. My name is Tyler. I live in the city of Oceanis, and I
love the piano. I've been playing it everyday with my teacher,
Mrs. Williams, to get ready for a recital. But... I've been
convinced into doing other things, and I haven't been
practicing much. I feel so guilty for not doing what I've been
dedicated to do.

In my dreams, I been forced to play the song I learned, but, I
can't remember the lines. All of a sudden, everyone around
me turned into shadows and started chasing me. I tried to
get away, but I wasn't fast enough.

But then, I saw a glimpse of light, and the shadows were
destroyed, I felt... so invigorated by the light!

The next thing I knew, I was in a forest. I saw a gate, and
walked toward it. As I walked through, I heard a voice.

"Hoo! Why hello, young boy!" I turned to the voice, and
noticed I was being talked to by an owl. "What's wrong? Oh, I
know! You must be wondering where you are?"

"Um, yeah," I said. "I don't know where on Earth I am..."

"Hoo! Well, that's probably because you're not ON Earth. This
is the Dream world. But don't let the name fool you. Just
because it is the world of Dreams, that doesn't mean it isn't
real. It's an alternate world that your people can only enter
when in deep sleep. The beings here call this place the Night
Dimension, and beings from your world are called Visitors."

"Wow..." I said. "I didn't know birds could speak so well..."

"Oh, hoo! Of course! I guess it would feel a little awkward
talking to and animal. But, that aside, allow me to introduce
myself. My name is Owl. What is yours, Visitor?"

"Um, Tyler..."

"Tyler, huh?" I heard another voice. Just then, someone--or
something--was flying around me.

"Nice to meet ya." it said. It came down and bowed in front
of me.

"Hoo!" Owl exclaimed. "You sure do make a shocking
entrance, you little rascal! Erm, anyway. This is NiGHTS,
Visitor. He spens most of his time flying freely through the air
(and scaring the daylights out of me...)."

NiGHTS couldn't help but laugh. "You silly old bird! C'mon,
Tyler, wanna Dualize with me and fly around a bit?"

I was confused. "Dualize? Fly? I don't get it..."

Owl explained, "Ahh. Dualization is the ability to merge the
consciousness of a Visitor and a Nightmaren, allowing them to
become one. However, Nightmarens are vile being, hailing
from the dark realm of Nightmare. Their goal is to steal Ideya
from Visitors, in order to destroy the world of Nightopia. Now,
you may not know about Nightopia or Idaya, but I will explain
that later."

"Wait," I said. "So, NiGHTS... is a Nightmaren..?"

"Well, yes," Owl answered. "But NiGHTS dislikes the ways of
his kind and decided to leave them. Do not worry: you have
nothing to fear with NiGHTS. Now go on! Touch his hand, and
Dualize with him. That is, if you trust him."

I didn't know what to do. But, as Owl said, I had nothing to
fear with NiGHTS. So, putting my trust in him, I put my hand
in his, and I felt us fusing our minds...

This is pretty intresting so far. It seems to be going similar to Journey of Dreams, but that seems like your intention. I am quite excited to see what will come up in the next chapter.
