NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams

Before the forum died, we were talking about the new boss. "Puffle" and all the negativity surrounding the game.
so what do you call him?

I use Puffle, Avenrir I know calls him Patches, which is a good description.

And how do you feel about the game so far and the general mood surrounding it?

It's funny how all the pictures prior to the video release made him look like he had only one eye.

Speaking of the video releases, I was slightly disappointed that they used the same idea behind Puffy -- but in the same sense, dreams are interconnected in their meanings, so a Puffy-ish boss might have a bigger meaning and could be more common than we think.. still, with a sequel - the expectations are high and it seems the general opinion behind it is to see something Big and New! just like when the original game was released.. Hard to stay within boundaries of innovative ideas but keep a somewhat-related sequel in that realm.

As for names of this boss.. I hopped the bandwagon with "F*-le" only because it was something that had common ground and everyone knew what was being addressed with that name.. otherwise "Boingy Arms Guy" is sticking in my head. Might stay with that until they give the bugger a game-name.

Boingy Arms Guy works XD

He looks similar to Puffy, but I think that it works.
He's a circus clown, very theatrical with circus cages behind him at one points.
Clowns are often shown balancing on balls, and in the case the clown IS the ball.

So I think that he counts as his own character. He doesn't bounce like Puffy and he reaches for NiGHTS.
Puffy just sort of bounced aimlessly with really bad aim.

Of course it's because our technology has improved, but ICly you could say that the Nightmaren have evolved and become smarter.

You make some good points with that. It's a similar concept, but yeah - he's more circus related and not so maternal with the material possessions. The idea that you 'defeat' the boss in a similar way, I think, was a little troubling... buuut, looking at the way NiGHTS defeats things - usually via paraloop - only leaves for so many options in terms of gameplay. Looking back on the original game - your main methods are to paraloop, drilldash or grab onto the bosses... unless they're going to make it MacGuyver mode and leave you with a pack of gum, a paper clip, and a shoe. ..Somehow..

This makes no sense but Puffle looks like he's either going to have a high-pitched scary voice like Jackle or s/he's just going to make weird noises.

Haven't seen the game play of the new game, though I bet you I could come up with a crazy name for it...I shall call it...Frankenstine....for no apperent reason, its better than Patches, though Patches does sound like a good name for it.

I'm bumping this thread because it's a little neglected. Just disregard the old discussions, which are no longer relevant.

So, who has the game?
::Raises hand::

And who's played it?
:: puts her hand back down::

If you've played, then feedback please!

Been trying to do my best to avoid any threads around the various internet forums that give away gameplay... I was sort of half and half with reading up on some of the bosses and storyline, since that sort of takes away from playing a shiny new game.

We'll see Tuesday if I end up with a Wii. Probably not, but we'll see.

Do you not have an available Wii to play the game on?

Dave took his Wii back to college last time, so I'm Wii-less for the time being.

You raise a good point though.

I have the game and I have been playing it like crazy. (However I have to stop many times to go onto the NiD boards and tell my findings and help people. I think I am going to stop that now though. I am tired of repating myself and I want to play.)

The game is very fun. The orginal is better, but this game has a lot of good in its own right. The biggest beef though is that not only are the bosses a lot harder, the controls are bad. Well...the type of controls offered are bad. Your thumb will be slipping off the control stick all the time. The GC is teh best controller for this...but again with the slipping! I can't play this game with a slippy thumb! The game is hard enough as it is! The only thing I am really good at is the link attack mode since I have done that for a long time now.

The Wii remote alone is very bad and hard to use. The nunchuck just doesn't work anywhere near as well as teh GC controller does. You thumb won't slip as much but you don't have the proper control and will be kinda slow and messing up a lot. The Classic controller is the same way.

Boss designes and level designes are great to look at. Music is wonderful. I love the spider boss music. XD

You don't need all A's for anything too special. You need all C's on every mission or above to see the special ending. But make sure you do it normally too. They are very different.

I wish there was more to do with the pians in the my dream world...but its still fun. I am spending most of my time there and I have a load of tips for you guys if you want them. Heres one...don't put Marens in there. >.< Also there are mepians again.

Reala's evil laugh will make you laugh.

Wizeman is wonderful in this. You don't need the special ending to fight him either. You get to fight him the normal way too. I am sure this will make you happy to hear SiLK.

Collect all the dewdrops for a special surprize. Trust me, you will like it. If you get stuck, there is a guide to the dewdrops on GameFaqs. They are really hard to find.

The difficulty of this game made me upset. Sure most people are good andn this comes easy, but this game was VERY hard from me at some points. I had to have my boyfriend play some of it. I got mad when he got 2.0 on the harder version of Donbalon while I got an E...and it was his first try!

There is a certain Helen platform level that will drive you nuts.

Its short. I have already beaten the game and got the specal ending. I am working on the dew drops and I won't even try the all A's thing. What you get is not worth it.

There is more I want to say, but I better not. Ask what you want so that I may not spoil anything for anyone.

--Edit---

IMPORTANT! Be aware you may need to start over your entire save sometimes. It seems that once in awhile, one will start there game and play. But when they get to the ending they will not unlock certain features that need to be unlocked, nor will the special ending ever happen no matter what you do. This is a random glich that can only seem to be fixed by starting a new save. I don't konw why this happens, but it seems that Sega's rush on this game was a very bad idea. My won't the Europeans be happy when they get a copy with less glitches.

Thanks for the info, Yami!
Now you have me frustrated and wanting to play even more XD (yay Mepians!)
Spider boss. . . that sounds awesome!
Oh, if anyone has a question for Yami that might lead to spoilers, please just PM her instead :)
(I hope that's okay with you, Yami!)

Beanio, the "Puffy-ish Boss" is named Donbalon.
I consider her to be more feminine, with the gypsy type earrings and eyelashes.

Sounds pretty good so far, Yami. Makes me a bit eager to play..

I'll be able to get the chance to play relatively sooner than I thought.. hmm HMM ;)

We'll all have to get together and share codes -- or however all that works -- once things fall into place!
