That's okay, it's refreshing to have Reala thought of as female for a change.
Either way is equally correct because of the androgynous thing.

I still wish that they had kept the golden claws though, or at the very least hidden Reala's fingers from view somehow.

The thing about Nightmaren is that they're supose genderless. So people can have their own opinions about what gender they are. So Reala can be a girl if your friend wants to.

It's just that he sounds very masculine in Journey of Dreams...

I acctually like the claws, makes him looks a but more frightening. He is a nightmaren after all.

That's a very good point, we should be grateful that the NiGHTS series is getting any attention at all!

I Really Dont Mind Them. Doesnt Change The Game So I'm Happy!

I think that SEGA should have kept Reala's gold claws, cause the new one's make him look like he got a manicure His old claws look much more menacing than 'pink nail polish'.
No offense to anyone who likes the new ones, I'm just stating my own opinion.
