I agree that it is difficult to keep Metal to a G rating, but a PG rating
should be doable, especially if Robotnik keeps Metal on a somewhat short
leash as to who Metal is sent after and what Metal is allowed to do. After
all, Robotnik wants victims to roboticize... and you can't Roboticize the
dead. Although, I wouldn't doubt Robotnik would try to make some
'ZombieBots' if he could.

It isn't much fun to have someone going after you that from a logical
standpoint you have no chance of beating or escaping from. But if limits
to what Robotnik lets Metal do might make things more interesting,
especially of the FF have ways to combat Metal other than Sonic's speed.

Possible things the FF could use to harm Metal...
1) Those 'metal eating balloons' made from parts of those 'scorch plants'
used towards Doomsday in the series.
2) Thermite - which is a compound that Rotor could easily mix given the
resources the FF can get ahold of from the junkyard. (I wouldn't be
surprised if the explosives he makes when the FF take down a factory or
something include some thermite.)
3) Water - Is Metal waterproof? SWATBots don't work so well after being
submerged so diving into rivers or otehr bodies of water may be an
escape route from Metal. or if Metal could be knocked into the water he
could short out, after all his engines require lots of air to work... which
they can't get if the robot is submerged.

*scratches nose* PG would also be difficult... he pretty much thrives on violence >>;; He's also rebellious and tends to sneak around and do things behind Robotnik's back. Now, PG-13 I could do, but that's above this board's rating, so =/

I have a few questions that spring to mind after reading that app?

What is a 'demon rifle'? And basically what are those weapons capable of?
Where did Shadic get his gear (weapons, etc...), and the training in how to use them?
Who trained him in martial arts?
What makes him more 'elite' than normal/regular Freedom Fighters?
What happened to Shadic prior to him joining the Freedom Fighters?

Demon Rifle is a Sniper Rifle, Dark Blade is a Two Handed Sword, uhh he went around the world and trained with the masters, and isn't the other Seniors Elite??......... i'm gonna have to remake my App arn't I :/

Revisions to at least make it more detailed would help flesh things out and answer questions such as 'what can this person do, and why can they do it?'.

I am curious to know how by the age of 12 someone would have had the time and capability to have traveled the world to learn with masters of various types of combat, while Robotnik was in control of the planet for half of that time. And how skilled is Shadic in those fields? (I'll admit Samurai Jack pulled something similar, although his parents had arranged everything in advance on the off chance Aku came back and the father failed to stop him a 2nd time. And I do believe it took Jack around 20+ years to complete his 'training' before he went after Aku himself.)

Questions that follow from that include: How did he find those masters? (For Samurai Jack his previous teacher always led him to the next one) And why aren't those masters helping other FFs? (In samurai jack this was never really touched upon for most of those who taught Jack, but in SatAM, Bunnie teaches others martial arts in Knothole...although I duno if anyone would call her a master, teacher maybe, but I duno if she considers herself to be a master of martial arts.)

Well it's a start anyways, in what ways are you getting confused? I'll try to help if I can.

I can empathize with how it is more difficult to work on a character only using forum contact as opposed to some form of chatroom/IM due to the slower feedback.

well...for starters.....too many questions and the fact that I am very limited to what i can have with my character

We can go over things one question at a time if you wish, but most of those questions that I previously asked would be answered with a properly fleshed out background that explains how the character got his skills and equipment, as well as his personality. So I think the best place to start is the background.

Also the main limitation on what you can have is what can you explain how the character gets in a reasonable manner.

For example, saying something exists using a nickname to describe it that no one else understands leaves the reader with questions. Furthermore not saying how the item was acquired or what it does raises far more questions.

On the other hand, explaining in the background how the item was acquired by the character, how the character learned to use it, and how it ended up with its nickname answers all of those questions so no one has to ask those questions.

I've tended to have some issues with Background myself at times, despite having been at the Bboard style of things even longer than the chat version.

Start off figuring out the basic details like where they were born, who their parents were. If you didn't figure them being born in an existing in the series town and still can't figure a specific place due to lack of info on the setting, I've admittedly never listed WHAT town my char's are from in Sonic games.
The 'made up town' method seems to work best with a generic town, because most every normal town taken over by Robotnick is the same as the other. It's a different situation if you try to pass off a hidden ninjapiraterobot village as having been there the whole time.

Some mention of their preferred methods and skills, why they like them, and who/how they got their practice with such helps out for explaining skills from car mechanic to the more popular sharp-object-to-swatbot-head.
Noteworthy items and gear also needs mention of where you picked it up from. Some knives or a pipe wrench don’t exactly need an explanation. A decent sword or my char's preferred method of travel would need a mention of how and why they got them in a way that could actually happen.

Considering your most recent listing is just a sword, that will probably be easier than most things. You already mentioned that he conveniently found it, so for that a mention of where he found it would possibly be enough. But it's not like I'm in charge of anything here.

I don't have a problem with using notes to help people working on their characters. Also once this RP is ready to start I'll be creating a seperate IC thread anyways to keep OOC and IC seperate.
